Sunday Bandstand 6 August 2017

Cornet and soprano star, Alan Morrison, has decided to retire from playing and conducting. He will be remembered as one of the most successful cornet players, having been the principal cornet at both Grimethorpe and Brighouse & Rastrick.
He was also regarded as a high quality conductor and also showed his talent on the soprano cornet, assisting Brighouse & Rastrick in many in the past two years.
He will continue as chairman for the Associated Board of Brass Band Adjudicators. Alan said “It is now over 50 years since I walked into my first band room at Cargo Fleet Works Junior Band in Middlesborough and since then I have always been involved regularly with a band both as a player or conductor.
It has come to retire gracefully into the back ground.
The last two years with Brighouse & Rastrick has been fantastic and brings the curtain down on my playing career at the very highest level. I will continue to adjudicate when invited and look forward to a relaxed retirement”

From everyone at Sunday Bandstand and your fans around the banding world we hope you have a long and happy retirement
