St Martin's Secondary School - ink blotter c1960s

For those readers who attended St Martin's School in Church Lane, Brighouse, you might remember being given one of these blotters.  They were used for advertising the Yorkshire Bank school accounts that were being promoted through the bank and most local schools.

I had an account at Yorkshire Bank, Bradford Road from 1962 and had it for almost 50 years. Then the owners the National Bank of Australia sold it to the Virgin Banking Group who then promptly closed the Brighouse branch. You can always go to the Cleckheaton branch, no thank you, so after almost 50 years I closed all my accounts I had with them and re-opened them in the Halifax Bank on Bethel Street.

Have you still got your blotter? Interestingly the headteacher was Mr Jones, if you did not have a blotter you will almost certainly remember Mr Jones who lived at the top of High Street, just across the road from the school.
