Phoenix Radio is staffed by Calderdale people, some have broadcasting experience,
others do not, but all possess the commitment to provide Calderdale with a radio
station and its listeners with interesting, topical and local news, views and sounds,
including the vastly diverse range of music played to suit as many ages and tastes
as possible.
Chris became involved following a visit to the radio station to be interviewed about
a new book. He asked the station manager if Radio Phoenix had a brass band programme,
‘No, would you like to produce and present a weekly show for us’. Once having taken

Having been involved with brass bands for almost 50 years, both as a player and in administrative roles, this was a challenge he readily grasped. Having written for a number of brass band publications both for the print media and the internet he is ideally suited to both produce and present the one hour show.

Whilst the reproduction of these older recordings does not always have the clarity that the modern CD has, the quality of playing is second to none. Listeners will have heard of these famous old players and bands, but now they have the opportunity of hearing them.
