Welcome! I'm Chris Helme

For over thirty years I have been interested in the local history of Brighouse, a small town in the heart of West Yorkshire. I have written a number of books about this town and its surrounding communities, as well as for publication in both local newspapers and regional magazines. For many years I have taught local history to both adults learners and junior school students.    

Another long held interest for me, has been the world of brass bands. Having been a brass player for almost fifty years and having more recently been invited to write and have published stories about the old bands and personalities. These stories are now beginning to have quite a following.
